Extraprise Completes Successful SAS 70 Audit

BOSTON--Extraprise®, the B2B database marketing services and CRM systems integration provider, today announced that it has successfully completed an SAS 70, Type II audit of the controls related to its Insight-to-Interaction system and marketing services business generally. The audit is a formal report on the design, implementation, and effectiveness of controls at a service organization for a specified period of time. The audit provides a third-party validation for clients that Extraprise maintains adequate controls and safeguards when it hosts or processes customer data.

The Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations, is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The SAS 70 audit, or service auditor's examination, is used widely, because it demonstrates that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control activities, which usually includes controls over information technology, security, and related data processing.

The auditor’s report is primarily used to support the financial audit process for companies that use outside service organizations, like Extraprise. In addition, a successful SAS 70 audit is generally viewed to meet the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 in assuring the effectiveness of internal controls at service organizations.

A Type II report not only includes the service organization's description of controls, but also includes detailed testing of these controls over a minimum six-month period. The auditor’s report describes the controls, gives an opinion as to their appropriateness, and measures the service organization’s compliance with the controls.
